Balance bought with weight

Ballast is weight carried to bring the CG within limits — temporary (sand bags, lead shot, secured as the POH/AFM requires) or permanent (installed and recorded).

Ballast needed = W × (desired CG − current CG) ÷ (ballast arm − desired CG). The longer the arm, the less ballast; but every pound counts against the maximum weight.

CG envelope. Loaded: 2,365 pounds at 38.96 inches, forward of limit. With no fuel: 2,125 pounds at 37.94 inches, within limits.1,4001,6001,8002,0002,2002,4002,60032343638404244464850CG — INCHES AFT OF DATUMWEIGHT — LB
