A range, not a point

The CG must fall between a forward limit and an aft limit. The manufacturer sets them where the aircraft stays controllable and stable across its flight envelope.

On the HX-4 Trainer the aft limit is 47.3 in. The forward limit is 35.0 in at 1,900 lb and moves aft to 40.0 in at 2,450 lb.
